While relaxing under a palm tree, Kris Van Puyvelde looked up and saw the fronds gently swaying in the breeze. It made him wonder why a garden umbrella couldn't look so beautiful. That's when the idea was born to create a pointless umbrella that resembled a palm tree.

Two years later, Palma made a splash at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and soon after won the prestigious Red Dot Design "Best of the Best" award.
